About Hearth & Halo

Hearth & Halo was born from a lifelong love of prayer, landscape, silence, and the hidden life of God.

I am Jayne, a Methodist minister, spiritual director, and pilgrim of the inward path. My faith has been shaped as much by ancient churches, wild hills, holy wells, and quiet roads as by books and formal study. I have spent many years listening at the interface of Christian mysticism, Celtic spirituality, and the ordinary demands of ministry and daily life.

This space grew slowly — out of early morning prayer, long walks, seasons of waiting, and a deepening conviction that God is most often encountered not in noise and certainty, but in stillness, beauty, and the faithful rhythms of the natural world.

The name Hearth & Halo holds together two realities that shape my spirituality:

  • The hearth — the place of warmth, shelter, story, and everyday devotion.

  • The halo — the quiet radiance of God’s presence that surrounds all things.

Here, the ordinary and the holy are not divided.

In Hearth & Halo you will find reflections inspired by:

  • The Christian mystical tradition

  • Christo-Celtic prayer and seasonal rhythms

  • Sacred landscape and “thin places”

  • The slow, healing work of contemplation

This is not a platform for quick answers or spiritual formulas. It is a place for those who sense that faith is deeper than certainty, that God cannot be reduced to explanation, and that the soul needs space, silence, and beauty in order to breathe.

If you have found your way here, you are very welcome — whether you stand firmly within the Christian tradition, linger on its threshold, or simply feel drawn by the quiet.

Hearth & Halo is offered as a shared hearth.
You are welcome to draw near the fire.
